2026 Pantsuit Politics Movie Challenge
Join us for some great films and community fun this year!
We had so much fun doing the film club last summer with our beloved Executive Producer Norma Stary. She reached out in December and asked about doing a community movie challenge for 2026. Of course, we’d never say no to Norma or to shared community fun.
Check out this note from Norma about the plan for the year and how you can join in the fun!
In the spirit of resisting the algorithms and in an effort to learn, experience, escape, and feel a wide range of emotions that are not being manipulated by a giant tech company, we present the 2026 Pantsuit Politics Movie Challenge. It’s time once again to stretch ourselves to seek out and watch movies that might not normally cross our paths.
I’ve created a Google Sheet that contains 52 categories, one for each week of the year. I’ve leaned on the Criterion Collection and a few imaginative Letterboxd members for some lists to choose from, otherwise you’ll do a search on your own to find suitable movies.
The movie challenge is low-key and it works like this:
Peruse the categories and find one that looks interesting or challenging or fun.
Select a movie that fits the category.
Watch the movie.
Log the movie in your own spreadsheet.
Repeat as often as desired.
You are encouraged to look for movies that are not made in the United States, performances that are not in English, filmmakers that are women and people of color, perspectives that you haven’t considered, and plots that are just a bit bonkers.

Maggie has given us extra space to spread out in the FB group we used for last year’s summer film club, now renamed the Pantsuit Politics Book and Film Club. (Thanks, Maggie!)
I can’t wait to talk about all the interesting movies we watch this year!
