Great interview! I live just outside her district. She interviewed my friend/colleague/kids’ teacher at the Bernie & AOC rally in Tucson a few months ago!
This was a fantastic interview. I know it’s been mentioned that some democrats interviewed lately haven’t really answered the questions you all are asking of them, and I SO appreciated listening to her both provide context and specifically loop back in order to provide actual answers. She was really a breath of fresh air and made me optimistic for the up and coming generation of candidates.
The misconception that people that receive public benefits aren’t hard working makes me so angry. I work with a lot of families with kids with special needs and I am constantly amazed at how hard people work to make sure their kids are taken care of as well as working other jobs if they are able. I believe my family falls somewhere in the middle class and I feel grateful that my kids have been able to be on Medicaid as my husband work in jobs that don’t offer health care benefits.
Wow what a great interview and yes what she says about Trump not telling the truth. I have many students at my college from South Texas. One student told me last year she was worried that the police in her border town would be kept busy going after immigrants that they might not have time to protect the public with every day policing. A male student worried about how the emphasis on immigrants interfered with local businesses.
