I loved this episode, and there were two specific moments that made me go, "Mmhmm."

The discussion about Governor Shapiro still being the governor of Pennsylvania. I think this brings a level of reliability, especially with all the rhetoric Trump will likely continue in the days ahead. Not choosing him as Harris' running mate almost feels like a long-game move. Her team likely anticipated Trump's rhetoric and recognized the importance of a strong governor, who was also the Attorney General in 2020, to hold steady. Honestly, I hadn’t made the connection until Beth pointed it out.

Religion and the Right. I let out a big sigh when Beth started on this topic. My husband has been in countless conversations with some of his family members who support Trump solely because of their faith, saying things like “policy over person.” Coming from a strong religious background myself, and having worked in a church for almost ten years before stepping away 2.5 years ago, I feel relieved to no longer be part of the increasingly intertwined Right and religious spaces. What Trump stands for, in my view, does not align with what Christians should uphold. I struggle with how deeply these two sectors have merged and wrestle with it daily.

P.S. Central time zone was always better growing up! I live in Eastern time now, but I'd much rather be in Central—haha.

Sarah, Beth, and the whole PP team—thank you for standing by all of us during this stressful, uncertain time. I’m already looking forward to the state-of-the-podcast episode next week. Happy Friday!
