Okay this is a niche question - but Beth mentions loving her yoga mat. Is that referring to the moment of getting on the mat or the product itself? I’m in need of a new yoga mat and would love an affiliate link if you have one!
Sarah, I am SO with you. One of my favorite moments of the day is my first cup of coffee. I love my mugs, I love my French press, I love our HEB brand Taste of San Antonio blend coffee, I love my sweet cream. I sit with my husband at our kitchen table as we look out our big window to the backyard, and if I have time, read a little of whatever book I’m reading with my coffee. I drink coffee throughout the day. But the first cup is the best.
My other favorite moment of the day is reading for a few minutes in bed before I go to sleep. I’d read for longer but I’m usually too tired. 😆
This kind of sounds lame—my days are full of activity and time with my family and I love it, but those two moments every day bring me joy.
I don’t have something scheduled every week, but monthly, I have a book club night and a school mom’s night out. Those are relationships I treasure and love being in person with them!
We just got back from a trip with our family to London and Paris. It’s the first vacation not to my hometown that we’ve taken in like 4 years, our first time out of the country in 9. We had the best time! I so enjoyed planning and the actual trip!! I woke up the next morning after we got home and literally started planning a family vacation to the mountains in New Mexico for my husbands family for the summer. Something we have wanted to go per his mom’s request but nobody was researching the lodging. So, me with my travel brain still on, I did it. We got everyone on board and we’ve booked a trip for August. Something else to look forward to!!
So I’m a little slow. I mean I know that this was recorded before the funding deal went through but is the reason Rand Paul and Massey are upset because this funds the government at Biden levels but since the government has already had massive cuts so is one of the reasons they are so upset and says that this is a lie because there is literally less government now so why do they get the same amount of money?
Love love the outside of politics. My husband and I discussed daily, weekly monthly today. It’s a great framing and check in for self care. I was thinking the once a month something you won’t forget and it helped take the pressure off saying yes to so many things for fear of “not having memories”. One memorable thing sounds right.
Daily is coffee always and then other things would be walks, sitting on the patio and watching the kids play outside at the end of the day, and listening to podcasts.
Weekly I have breakfast with my best friend- it’s great and I definitely do treasure it.
Monthly it would probably be time spend with friends or travels!
Echoing the shout out to Anne Bogel. She is the reason I discovered Pantsuit Politics years ago, maybe around 2016-17! I still read and listen to her religiously as well.
Wow listening to this episode on Saturday after Chuck Schumer just rolled over is making me apoplectic. I will be interested to see how yall feel about it on Tuesday
100% coffee is one thing I do every day that I LOVE. It is my reason/motivation for getting out of bed some days, my reason for working out, walking my dog in the morning and drinking a glass of water. It's truly the best. 😆
Also, thank you for the reminder to call our reps about Khalil. I admit I got distracted with the mess about the CR. (As I suppose was the point).
I am really worried about the Khalil situation. I think Timothy Snyder’s recent column helped to articulate why it’s so worrisome as part of this larger trend of using claims of antisemitism to justify the suppression of speech and attack higher ed
I’ve been having ~a hard time~ since January 2, personally, professionally, and you know, everything else contributes to this too. I made a new patient request with a therapist today to help me rebuild coping mechanisms and the idea of a daily/weekly/monthly thing I love is really appealing. Here’s what came to mind for me:
Daily: hugging my husband. This is so cheesy, yes, but he’s 6’4” and I am 5’6” so it is a really generous hug that I look forward to when I come home from work.
Weekly: I sing with my community choir every Tuesday night. Also, Severance and Survivor.
Monthly: this was harder, but at least monthly if not more frequently, I get to have a multi-hour phone call or FaceTime with my best friend of 22 years. She lives too far away from me but resetting with her is everything to me. I think we’re on for this weekend!
Singing with community choir! I love that so much. My choir kind of fell apart during the pandemic and I miss it so much. Hope your new therapist is a good fit. It’s such a vulnerable thing to meet with someone and it’s nice when you kinda vibe from the beginning.
I’ve been with mine for 10 years so I can empathize with how hard it must be to not have that in your life! We are much smaller post-pandemic but it’s still empowering to sing in a group setting. I often am moved to tears just by being there in the middle of all the sound.

I also know there are many reasons to be mad at this I’m just trying to understand this one part
Oh, my Massie is changing up his look. He looks totally different. What about that.

Wouldn't free speech be a good issue to organize around, maybe don't start with a general strike. Take a cue from the people in Belgrade?
The immigration situation is so bad and scary. Just read this story from Milwaukee this morning. I am in Wisconsin so it's close to home: https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/local/2025/03/14/hmong-american-woman-from-milwaukee-deported-to-laos/82415744007/
That is so scary.
I know! I hate that she got bad advice from her lawyers and also that all this happened for a marijuana offense. It's just horrible in every way.
Sarah, you can go ahead and hate on tea, but unless you’ve had Adagio’s Almond Oolong I don’t think you fully get it. Just sayin…❤️
@sarah: might I suggest quartiles. https://apple.news/Z2aVk3S0CQni2riT_t3pxtw
This? https://www.quartilesgame.org/ (I can’t open the Apple News link)

I have SO many questions about the massage…. What kind of massage? How long is the massage? That is life goals.
I get a massage once a month but weekly sounds DIVINE.

I am old, so something unforgettable once a month would take up a lot of brain space.
