I love a Bingo Board and the outdoors mom group that I was really involved in when my kids were little always did outdoor bingo challenges. This is totally our type of thing and they are going to love it. Sometimes we just need a good game and some structure to encourage ourselves to do things.

I’m a dork so I’d add: read one of Doris Kearns Goodwin’s books about a president from the past and reflect on what echoes today

I think about my late grandmothers when reading this post. One was a homemaker (not by choice, she wanted to be a nurse-my chosen profession) and the other completely reinvented herself after my grandfather died in 1978. She had an associates degree(forced to stop her education so her brother could attend college) and returned to college, earning her bachelor’s degree and working for the university of Charleston in WV. She traveled the world and hosted the likes of Maurice Sendak in her home. She ran for office (and lost as a progressive).

My grandmothers were different and yet they both fought for equal rights in the ways they could. They both made their communities better.

I strive to be like both of them combined-strong, empathetic, humble and resolved to leave this country/community better than I found it.

I feel like all we are is Commerce sometimes. It’s frustrating for this bleeding heart tree-hugging rebellious spirit. I’m ready to celebrate the ways we make this country better.

I printed mine out and put it on the fridge! Hoping to nudge my family into participating, too.

With my son graduating in June & more time come fall, I plan to return to volunteer with our local literacy program which focuses on teaching immigrants to read & write English. I loved my work with them before the tyranny of middle & high school sports!

You used the word 'I'

8 times in the first paragraph .

It would be great if the 'I' gender sub stack generation

moved out of the first person conversation

where they are the subject, not us the reader.

I disagree. Beth is describing what she is doing to celebrate and contemplate this anniversary in a way that is invitational but not prescriptive. She can’t know us, how can she write about us?? It’s our job to take what we appreciate about what she has shared and apply it to our lives. This comment is giving bean soup I fear.

Are we reading her diary ?

So you think the word 'I' is that important ?

The 'I' Gender Generation, no he or she allowed ,

but then they say "you and me" and " doing good" .

Sure use bad grammar if you want .

I love this! I've been working on my own 2026 bingo. One thing I'm doing is helping with a citizenship class for people who are hoping to become citizens (although some of them come from countries who are not eligible to apply for citizenship alright now).

I LOVE THIS! Please let us know how it goes! Is there a curriculum for this that you can share????

I'm just helping people practice the citizenship test questions one-on-one/two, so I didn't develop the curriculum. But basically they divided the 128 questions on the test into the number of weeks we have. In the first part of class we go cover some content related to those questions and go through the questions. The second part, we practice 1-1 with flashcards of the questions we've learned so far. I think at some point we'll practice some of the reading and writing portions and some of the common questions based off the application form. It has only been 2 weeks, so I'm learning as we go.

My first thought here is: have you put in too much? Perhaps it’s my elderly mindset but during my early forties just keeping up with a full time job, three school age kids, our farm, and earning grad degrees made these things tough to complete. Perhaps save some of it for when kids are in college when there is time to fill?

One of the things that I think is fun about a Bingo card is that you don't have to blackout the card to win. You could just do a line or two, so it makes for many ways to have a little win! -m
