More to Say About the Pro-Inflation President

Let them eat coal ash

The Trump administration is using emergency powers to force aging coal plants to stay open. Utilities and states have decided to retire these plants because they’re so expensive and inefficient. Ratepayers (read: all of us) are footing the bill to comply with these orders. States are suing, and the administration’s legal position is we do what we want, and we don’t have to explain ourselves.

On today’s More to Say, I dig into what’s happening with these plants and what it tells us about an energy policy built on vibes instead of math.

More to Say is my solo show, released twice a week for Pantsuit Politics subscribers. This one’s free. If you like what you hear, I’d love for you to join me and a thoughtful, fun, generous group of commenters every week.
