Hi, hello.
Maggie spends a lot of her work day reading messages from listeners, and she sees questions bubbling up that she thinks we need to answer publicly because of how many people share them. Today, I'm offering my perspective on some of these questions.Â

The one thing we want you to know this week…
This week, we wanted to share this important advocacy that our friend Lisa from The Bookshelf on Church is doing:
It’s #PrisonBannedBooksWeek, and APBP is joining other organizations to demand a stop to the nation’s largest book ban.
With prison censorship exponentially increasing, it’s essential to make our elected officials know that we do not give jails and prisons free license to restrict reading materials. Prison Banned Books Week is a time for us to demand a stop to the unwarranted targeting of information and literature in carceral facilities.
APBP is joining with other organizations to demand public library catalogs be extended onto prison tablets–giving people inside the access to community reading materials–just like the rest of us.
Here’s how you can help:
Visit prisonbannedbooksweek.org, where you can send emails to your federal and state representatives urging them to support crucial legislation as well as email tablet companies demanding they work with library systems to offer library content on their tablets.
Help us send books to incarcerated folks by participating in a special Prison Banned Books Week fundraiser! From September 14 to September 28, a donor will match all purchases made from our indie bookstore wish lists and donated to APBP. Purchase a book from one of our indie bookstore wish lists and donate it to APBP. It’s that easy!

Re the Alabama question, to your excellent answer I want to add that I think (hope?) that the act of casting a vote makes it harder for that person to be caught up in conspiracy theories about the election, and might undercut the argument that it was stolen. They/we should all get out there and take our stands, and obviously trust the results!
