RE public behavior: I had a fight with my husband when we went to a classical music concert and he was so bored he went on his phone. At intermission I told him to leave and I would Uber home because I’m not going to have him act like that in a place you’re expected to watch and be quiet. So now I go to classical concerts with other people. 🙃
Going with others is the best plan! My MIL & I have been theater league members in our city for close to a decade now. We leave our husbands at home & go & enjoy ourselves! It is the best!!
Thank you for reposting - on unpacking the house we should have 1 representative for every 100,000 or 200,000 voters. That’s still a lot of people to represent but it’s much more reasonable then 1 representative in one state representing a million people and another one representing 150,000 people
The squatting in dressing room story reminds me the final task I did as the events manager for a local arts festival in town.
Two volunteers locked themselves in a bathroom for a weird amount of time. When they left, we surveyed the bathroom and there was standing water which was bad enough.
But under a paper towel, there was a pile of human poop. I did clean it myself and would not let the kind woman who ran the Child Advocacy Center (where the bathroom was).
You 4 taking a group trip to a WWE would be great material and it would be interesting to hear your experiences. Just saying.🤣
Honestly, I’ve always wanted to go to a WWE show just to check it out out of curiosity. Same with UFC fights. I have a friend who’s been to both and he says it exactly what you think it is.
I appreciate this being shared as a replay because I would not have seen/heard it otherwise. My health insurance went up almost $200 per month this July and I have real anxiety over what will happen when everything in that Big Beautiful Bill strikes after midterms. I agree, as an issue that’s critical to everyone, it’s not spoken about much by our elected representatives. I also believe the $$ they receive by lobbyists also plays into that silence.
Oh - and I also worked at Diamonds/now Dillards all through high school. The women’s dressing rooms are the worst! People are just rude. We would regularly dispose of bathing suits - due to women trying them on during their menstrual cycle without undergarments on - which signs specifically ask you to wear. 🤢 That was back in the early 80’s, and luckily I never encountered 💩.
I'd be interested in what Sarah or Beth would have to say about how health care rates/denials are all tied into the ACA/ Obamacare. That is when my premiums went up - I had great really good Private health care. Before Obamacare. I voted for Obama. I was supportive of the ACA, but I cannot deny that my healthcare premiums have gone up every single year and care through those. Those health policies have gotten worse. When I talk to people in the insurance agency they say that it's because they have to cover everybody and so they're stingier about their coverage. My friends in Canada say this is what it looks like in Canada and we should be careful what we wish for every time we talk about universal health Care. So I'd be interested in thoughts on that. Second - food prices going up and healthcare prices going up --- the maga people in my life don't blame that on Trump. I'd be interested in what the maga people in Sarah's life are saying about that. One Maga friend told me yesterday that he's willing to ride all of this out for another year because he thinks that's the amount of time it really takes for things to settle down when there's a new president. Finally, the minute Trump picked JD Vance, I knew that everyone in charge (people behind project 2025 and the Steven miller, et Al) was not thinking about keeping Trump in power. What they want is JD Vance in power and it's terrifying to me, especially as a Catholic.
I'm sorry you had that experience with health care. When Obama care happened we breathed a huge sigh of relief because our son who was born with a health issue could have insurance with other carriers. And I could lose my job and he would be ok.
Before Obama care our son was denied care when he was a 3 for life saving surgery. Through many 30k was raised for him to have it. He is 31 now.
Regarding universal health care is there a perfect system ? No but the financial ruin so many are put in because of our current 'insurance' is horrible. It drives the cost of care up and causes many to go without.

My high school kids have a saying “if your grade doesn’t touch, neither do you” and they are serious about it!
