Brian Thompson was from my community and his funeral was held at our church this week. I know several people who knew him personally, so processing this has hit very differently in Maple Grove, MN. Our lead pastor talked about having the funeral this morning during worship (which includes our annual Christmas Cantata which was also beautiful!).
Take a listen to his nuanced message about being with people as they grieve. It was beautiful and 🔥! www.lordoflife.org and go to Dec 15 YouTube replay
Just a teacher here to say technology has fully failed us in education and I want to throw it all away.
On the most basic level, MOST of my high school students at this point have penmanship so poor they can’t read their own writing. The fine motor skills of even holding a pen are gone… and with that, the brain pathways made by physical note taking.
On a bigger level, the brain rot has absolutely hit them: their constant need to have something running in the background (or the foreground, let’s be real) at all times, has really done them intellectual harm.
It’s concerning. So much so that, who in 17 years has never really been an extra credit teacher, now has a monthly extra credit packet that is penmanship practice.
I purchased a practice workbook that I cut up, scanned, and photocopy. Here’s hoping it at least helps me read their final exams.
I will let you know. I’ve pared my feed down so much that sometimes I check and nothing new has come in. I’ve muted stories for accounts that do a lot of reposting their or others’ posts. It’s a work in progress.

Really appreciated Katherine Cartwright's feedback on the realities of being a doctor. Good to hear her perspective.

I really worry about the fine (and honestly gross) motor skills of…basically everyone

Totally agree with everything the OBGYN said. The doctors are not the problem!
Truth! The immense hoops and hustle of being in a helping profession are too much!
Doctors salaries that is!
I am thisclose to giving up Instagram. I’m looking forward to today’s conversation.
Me too! The hardest part for me is figuring out how to manage my online business. If not for that I'd be long gone.
Feeling the same!
