I just wanna say the Greenland shark has a gestation period of between eight and 18 years😳

I have been thinking about this since Tuesday's episode. My partner and I have been together since we were 17 years old, and we are getting married this October on our 17-year anniversary (marking the milestone that we have been together longer than we have been apart). We waited so long to get married because marriage didn't seem important until we were ready to have kids. Listening to your earlier conversation, I was laughing at how my personal decisions both embody and contradict living a 'sophisticated life.' Loved that episode and this spicy more to say.

Sarah, I am now fascinated by these sharks! How can you just slip that in at the end?! That is absolutely wild! I'm fascinated!

Certified Lymphedema Therapist here! This is our specialty!!! It is all connected! What we do poorly reimburses because there’s no drug to drive all of it.

Also to address the doom and gloom and wanting to check out. We can’t check out but we should do what John Green talks about. This video lives rent free in my head and I love it. 😍 https://youtu.be/Bew3EMicf8g?si=wdN4sYm8TQpn7Qq3

I think Adam Kinzinger would be a great guest to talk about what we need to do when/if we get rid of DT. My sister is incredibly progressive but she says she would vote for him because he is the only one talking about undoing all the government overreach. That in order reinstall faith in this institution we need to give up power in the executive branch and work to create healthy checks and balances immediately. I think it’s different than what many Dems are saying. I would love to see him on your show to talk about this.

I’m halfway through and have to pause to agree about the benefits of those “citizen academies” cities are having. Having a diverse group of people working together on hyper local issues is such a great way to engage, inform, and plant seeds for the future. I see people upset online about development and other issues in my county and I always think to myself that their anger is about five years too late. They’re getting involved at the tail end when more people need to be engaged from the beginning and it makes a real difference.

Sarah said “Letting vices run wild was not such a great idea.” I heard, “Letting bison run wild was not such a great idea. The porn, the gambling…”

For a minute I was like—omg does this all tie back to the Wild West?! The saloons? Anyway, when I realized she said VICES, I was cackling

As a forest therapy practitioner in training, I wholeheartedly encourage you, Beth (and everyone) to make time to listen to the birds everyday to restore and reset your nervous system. 10 minutes is all you need. You deserve it 💚

So many good points made here. I’d heard of the Greenland shark but it completely freaks me out. Great episode!

Just want to say from a medical world - we’ve known about the interstitium, just like we knew about the peritoneum (which was the NYT new “found” organ a few years back). I do think we have spent too long oversimplifying everything about the body to get people to understand.

I want to read the interstitial avenues for tattoo ink please. Where is that again?

I think this is one of the best spicy shows you’ve ever put on. You talked about so many things that have been in the back of my mind, but I didn’t know how to verbalize. Especially the part about people want change, but they also don’t want change. I think that is really the center of many of our feelings and issues as a country.

I’m a teacher at a public school. I really feel this from the community. People want change, they want to see schools adapt, and change to become something new, but they also want them to be traditional, and even go back to what they were 50 years ago. They want change, but they want things to stay the same, or go back.

Thank you!

I’ve heard it stated - people want change, but they don't want to be changed

I used to say at work all the time "I can't make it better without making it different"

Erin Sherman (Stevens)'s avatar

I have that quote on my desk from you on a post it. Look at it often!

Ah! I love that I get to hang out with Dr. Erin in this form!
