For the last couple of weeks... when I try to watch the podcast on YouTube it is just a black screen. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it? Is anyone else having issues? Thanks for your help!
Beth, you spoke to my soul when you said “My faith is incredibly important to me… I also have less and less interest in hearing that from politicians as I get older.” If I wanted you to be my pastor, I’d ask you to lead my church, not my community or my country.
David French said on advisory opinions this week that he let the NYTimes know he wouldn’t do commentary or coverage on SOTUs anymore until they go back to being written, and I fully support the Frenchian view. The performance spectacle is out of control.
I want everyone to read The Fourth Turning this year. I am convinced that our next president will be an optimistic forward thinking millennial (either party). And it will be the only way forward.
I just have to say that I laughed out loud at Sarah’s comment “I swear to god I’m gonna chain myself to something” about the arch. I appreciate any opportunity to laugh among all of the yuck that is the country/this administration right now. And also, agreed.
Only a few minutes in but had a thought - to the “everyone treats him like a king” situation: I think it’s safe to say this is what Trump has always wanted to a degree, but I do wonder if age is amplifies it. Every single one of my grandparents approaching 80 had this attitude of “I’ve seen it all, I know what I’m talking about” and were mostly uninterested in debating their ideas. And no judgement on that generally, when I’m 80, I’m sure I’ll be tired of debating and being the queen of whatever room I’m in while having everybody smile and nod their head at me sounds great! However I also don’t plan on being the leader of the free world…
This. The more and more he speaks, the more he reminds me of my grandparents who we’re not going to argue with because they only have so much more time.
I haven’t even listened yet but I am SO excited to hear you expand your thoughts on Emanuel. This is very new territory for me- can’t say I’m a politically minded person or that I’ve ever been passionate about someone’s potential run- but, as I’ve commented repeatedly in any episode you mention 2028, I think he has such potential.
Pausing to say what about a Rahm/Pete ticket? I’m always trying to find a way in for Pete. But it might be a good balance of experience, Midwest values, rough street fighter, ability to reach the average Joe, solid policy ideas, etc. Rahm is cunning and Pete is so smart.
