Catching up on my PP and not until the end of this episode did I realize that I went to college with Mike AND I think we attended that first Omaha event he mentioned together! As I recall we did press passes, I still have a photo somewhere. Anyway, small world, and so cool to hear what he’s doing now!
I started and finished this episode on two different days - and I appreciated hearing his ideas … but it may have been a bit like a fire hose at points 😂 Loved the Taylor Swift discussion/closing. Thank you for sharing this.
I’m an avid Pantsuit Politics listener so maybe I’m spoiled… but what is the point of having thoughtful, articulate guests on the show if they only get a minute of speaking time per 10 minutes of the male host?
This was such an interesting conversation and a connection I hope y’all will revisit. All the main guys in my life are white dudes and his perspective (and energy) is encouraging. That bit about shifting the needle just a bit on white men was a new thing for me. Maybe an opening for 2026 and 2028 for sure. (Also, the part at the end about Taylor Swift made me tear up … in the best way) Thank you Beth!
Trump "could have been a contender," and just like the Marlon Brando character in the movie On The Water Front as he speaks to his brother, he too could have been a contender, but what he was-- according to him--was a bum. Oh, to the "I could-have-beens"!
One way I think we need to think about the disconnect between data and everyday life, is to use a Jewish tradition of discussing two opposite points of view on a topic because the answer isn't one or the other, but somewhere in the middle. I think we can say, the data has value but so does your experience. What is your experience exactly? What exactly does the data say? Why might data say A when your experience says Z. Maybe when looking at what exactly is involved we can understand some of the reasons for the disconnect and how does that inform what we can do better.
Only partway through listening to this, but quick request for some sort of intro that tells us who Mike Nellis is! Similar to the conversation with Lou, I started listening to this while out doing things and jumping into a conversation with zero context makes it hard for me to understand where the person that Beth or Sarah is conversing with is coming from. 15 seconds of context at the front would go a long way to help me track the discussion. I understand this is a recording from a Live but when it shows up in a podcast feed some description would be great, even if you can't realistically edit the audio but include a bit of a written blurb in the podcast description.

I listened to the entire broadcast; you two were great! Thanks so much!
I am not a concert goer, and I'd never heard of this guy, but his enthusiasm for the Taylor Swift concert makes me want to go to one!
Thank you for this video. It was the treat I didn't know I needed.
