Because we are living the ICE invasion alongside the releasing of the horriffic details of a human child trafficking sex ring and influence pedaling club of white men I am starting to have thoughts that might be conspiracy-leaning...but here it goes.

Has anyone thought that maybe the abduction of people by ICE is just another funnel for another sex trafficking human trafficking ring? It definitely is putting a lot of vulnerable people and children in the hands of abusive disturbed white men with guns and power and no morals or accountability. Is trump trying to his parties started again?

Sarah and Beth have mentioned a few times that they chatted with some women from a Canadian politics podcast recently. I have been trying to find it. Does anyone know what podcast it is?

1. I never really understood the rise of Qanon and the distrust of mainstream media until RFK started lying about the science on vaccines and now there are so many things from the government I don't trust.

2. I found the first section explaining the mechanisms of the cryptocurrency at a high level really helpful. Thank you.

3. My mind started to wander when Sarah started to rant. PP is most valuable for me when you share information, analyze it and make connections that I haven't had a chance to make. I'm not sure that knowing something makes you mad or makes you cry helps me process the news. As Sarah says, I'm just being honest.

Related to flipping of the district in Texas, I live in Tom Emmer's district... in Minnesota... near/in the Twin Cities... I can't even begin to express the frustration!... and from the caucus number on Tuesday- people are ready for a change! Once caucus reported a 2000% increase in caucus attendees! And the people that weren't at the caucus, many of them were driving around feeding their neighbors or being a constitutional observer!

Hi Sarah and Beth! I so so so appreciate your continuing to do what you do given all the anxiety and depression keeping up with it can cause. I love that you are focused on celebrating 250 and pumping people up for the midterms (and specifically in this episode encouraging people to volunteer with campaigns). I haven't heard you talking (perhaps yet) on the critical importance of primaries to make sure we are getting the candidates we want and deserve to the ballot. If you don't have plans soon to highlight this, will you please? There are lots of orgs like David Hoggs Leaders We Deserve and Indivisible (Ezra Levin is constantly talking about primaries and how they endorse people nationally when local chapters bring their candidates forward) that are trying to get more young and diverse candidates out there. Election fatigue is real (I am a Virginian and we vote ALL THE DAMN TIME) but we can't have high-stakes elections like primaries be taken by a non-representative sample of voters. Thank you!

Sarah said she doesn't know how much people understand about due process. They don't. People in this country need some really basic civics lesson. I made the mistake of wading into the comments of a friends FB post the other day and had people telling me only citizens had rights, throwing memes around that said it's the us constitution not the constitution of the whole world, all kinds of nonsense that is just mind boggling. They argue that Biden had open borders but also Biden and Obama deported people so we shouldn't object to what is happening. It is crazy making. And it all comes back to being siloed and stuck in echo chamber algorithms and if I could just beat them all over the head with your first book and get them to listen...but you can't make people care.

1. I’m at the end of my rope with respect to this administration. And damn it, I’ve been there a long time and I’m sick of always having to find just a little bit more rope. The grift is maybe what gets to me the most.

2. Sarah wanted music recs from artists who weren’t at the Grammys this year. Audrey Hobart’s album Who’s The Clown is a delight. It’s honest, vulnerable, and fun. She’s a tv writer and her songs really set a scene. She’s singing about fame and belonging with a Swiftian sensibility, but is also so dry and just hilarious. I love that album. Also, Forever is a Feeling by Lucy Dacus. An achingly gorgeous tribute to all love, but especially queer love. Lyrically, this album is beautiful, with lines like “if the devils in the details then god is in the gap in your teeth.” And gosh can Lucy sing. There’s a softness to this album that is warm and comforting. This is the album that got me through a really rough end to my PhD.

I distinctly remember as a kid hearing "the love of money is the root of all evil" and thinking that I shouldn't complain about not getting an allowance because it was keeping me from being bad. That probably says something about either MY religious education or ALL evangelical religious education. Nevertheless, can we talk about the widespread acceptance of prosperity gospel among people who simultaneously call it wrong? I don't think we can decouple all of these topics <gestures at literally every current event> from the ideas that are now hallmarks of (western) evangelicalism: those who don't work don't eat; success comes from working hard; if you are a good person you are blessed by God with wealth and health (see also: MAHA; health as morality); people who have wealth are blessed/good; COUNTRIES that have wealth are blessed/good; etc.

As you started down the money trail it dawned on me that really what Trump is doing is what most politicians have been doing for eons and he knew that and saw that and wanted a piece of it and has so little shame that he just does it in broad daylight. And the fact that the courts would have to do so much work to bring an emoluments case against him proves that all these people in power don’t want that because they are also making gains, meager in comparison to Trumps audaciousness. So what the flip do we do? Just vote out all the old timers. The American people need to make this about draining the swamp, the swamp being the reps not what DOGE did. About removing ALL corruption but then…humanity…and people suck. Deep sigh. Jesus come now please. Pretty please with a cherry on top?

Thank you thank you for ending the politics sections with concrete advice and actions! I already subscribe to a local newspaper (and obviously PP!) but I’ll be getting another subscription today.

This whole episode, I kept thinking “yes this! Yes! I feel like my conservative family would be moved by all of this evidence of corruption and the opinions from conservative judges. At least they would be if Dems were in power. Maybe I should share this episode?” And then just again realized they’re so far gone, I don’t think they’d actually hear it.

This is in no way the same, but I never really understood the meaning of Jesus’ words - eyes to see and yet they do not see, ears to hear and yet they do no hear - until seeing many on the right just completely ignoring what’s happening in Minneapolis and our nation. Now I feel like I viscerally understand that sentiment and how maddening and saddening it is.

My favorite part of this episode was the list of everything that would suck if we lost our immigrants 🫶🙌💯 🥹 that particular moment rekindled my patriotism.

But, Sarah, the Benson Boone video from last year has been all over social media. 2 ladies pull his fake suit off & reveal his glittery blue jumpsuit? Isn’t that the one? BTW, no to the boxers.
