I have appreciated getting to know Maggie & Alise! They have encouraged me to share more with my family about the sky & stars (and now my husband is working on becoming an astrophotographer as a hobby! 😀) and be more invested in reading.
I appreciated their own flair when they stepped in to be interviewed or even stepped up to lead the News Brief a couple of years back. Maggie and Alise ~ wherever life takes you, I wish you and your families the very best! We have appreciated you being an integral part of the PP team!

I truly thought I was reading an ode to the two of them ‘just because.’ This is so sad, and to say goodbye to both at the same time is shocking. I can only imagine the feelings the four of you have been going through. I wish the best to Alise and Maggie and I do hope they stick around as part of the Spice Cabinet! I hope Sarah and Beth are also doing alright through this. Hugs to all!
No matter what the reasons for these departures are, I know this means that difficult and brave choices were made. Change is hard, and it’s always easier to do nothing than to do something. I’m proud of you for taking the brave action.
There honestly should have been a heads-up on this - I had clicked on listen option as I headed out the door to walk the dogs. As others have said, it caught me completely off guard. 🥹 Of course I wish them every success in their next adventure and also hope they continue to be part of this wonderful community.
This brings a bunch of feelings! I'm so sad to see Alise and Maggie go, as my personal interactions with both of them have been 100% delightful, and they have been a huge part of creating something I love. I also have complete confidence in wherever their next steps take them!
Change is sucky and exciting, and comes with both growing pains and opportunity. Cheering Maggie and Alise on in their next adventures, and excited to support the next team of superheroes that Sarah and Beth are sure to assemble for PP!
I'm in a bunch of new seasons myself right now, and some days it's stupid and other days it feels exactly right. Embracing all of the beautiful and bittersweet parts is the best way to survive the transitions. All part of the nuance of life, right?

I was in the middle of a long, sick night in CA when the new PP episode dropped about 1am. As I am wont to do, I started by looking at the topics list...and of course, I had to skip right to the last 4 minutes in complete shock. I had no idea that this was something I should have prepared myself for emotionally! 😜
Maggie and Alise, I hope to keep catching you both on your substack adventures as I feel invested in who you both are as people and writers and thinkers! I am ever so thankful for what you've helped build here!
