Have the Best Weekend Available
A quick update from Pantsuit Politics and the Spice Cabinet
Greetings from Switzerland
Sarah and Beth are enjoying some time with you and Common Ground Pilgrimages in Switzerland this week. They’ll be back next week!
Signal Award
We’re thrilled to announce that Pantsuit Politics was honored this week with a 2025 Signal Award in news and politics! Thank you for all of your support and for celebrating with us!
From the Spice Cabinet
We were so grateful to Brian and Hala this week for sharing their stories of working in government agencies impacted by DOGE cuts this year. As we enter the third week of the government shut down, we are grateful for the workers who are working without pay and in already difficult circumstances.
Outside of Politics last week, Sarah and Beth discussed how much cleaning do you really have to do. And Stacey told us that there IS a time and a place to be concerned about cleaning out your drains. Drain Flies
No Kings (or tyrants if you happen to be in the UK): We know many of you are attending No Kings Protests this weekend in solidarity with our friends and neighbors in Portland, Chicago, and government employees. The organizers have a lot of information on their website about the official protests. We’d love to hear about your experiences1.
Good News Alert: We’ve been talking a lot about AI on and off the podcast. Angelyn shared this news about how AI maps can have helped map out antibiotics to target harmful bacteria without disturbing the rest of the microbiome.
Sarah and Beth will be back with a catch-up episode next Friday. Let us know what you’d like to hear about from them.
This week’s Low Stakes Controversy:
You really surprised us with your love of candy corn last week (and I apparently owe candy corn an apology). As you can see, I am not a spooky/scary/horror movie person, please share your recommendations in the comments (so far, I’m checking out Pride and Prejudice Zombies based on your recs a few weeks ago)
LAST CHANCE HOLIDAY MERCH
⏰ Final days to snag our limited-edition holiday treats before our sale ends Sunday, October 19! These limited-edition ornaments, beanies, hoodies, and mugs won’t be available again – perfect for early December delivery.

And I, Maggie, love a clever protest sign. Please feel free to send us pictures on Instagram if you feel comfortable sharing

I think Coco should be considered for its excellence as a film this time of year!
