Late to the game but I will die on the hill that cantaloupe is only good if you get it from a roadside stand within a few miles of where it’s grown. ☺️

I do miss eating half a grapefruit with a special grapefruit spoon.

My literal face when Sarah said she doesn’t like cantaloupe AND when y’all said blueberries are the superior berry AND when Beth said to pepper your melons: 😮

I listened and forgot to comment, but my favorite fruit is watermelon. And also sumo mandarin oranges!!! Cherries are also good.

Way late after traveling last week, but watermelon is the superior fruit. The end. (Ok and maybe a sliced gala apple.)

I am 37 years old and this episode made me realize I’ve never had a plum (at least that I can remember). Just ordered a single plum with my grocery delivery and I loved it! Now I’m dying to try a plum pie!

🍊 If you are struggling to find oranges, you can buy oranges directly from an orchard in Northern California. We tried them this past citrus season. We live only 1 1/2 hours from orchard so local but they ship all over including Alaska and Hawaii in a IF IT FITS IT SHIPS BOX from USPS. We are spoiled now. No other oranges at the grocery store can compete. Look up Papa Citrus on Instagram or https://papa-citrus.myshopify.com

Another episode of “I am similar to Donald Trump and that makes me uncomfortable”; like his teetotalling, I am also very boring with my food. My favorite meal is a meatball with rice. I barely consume spice. But the reason why my diet is so boring is that I grew up with A MILLION allergies and so had to have a dry, boring diet. What is Donald Trump’s excuse?

I finished listening a little while ago. Why would Congress wait 60 days to see how tariffs will work out. None of these tariffs are for emergency purposes, so I think Elizabeth Warren is on point when she says pass a resolution by Monday morning ending them. The House doesn’t need a whole lot of Republicans to jump on board to do this. See her interview on MSNBC

I am a fruit obsessee, especially berries and stone fruit when in season (though I get raspberries and blueberries year round because I find they’re good enough - anyone try the new crunchy jumbo blueberries? 🤣). If I lived somewhere that mangoes were plentiful, I can only imagine what I would do.

But let’s talk citrus. I too had gone the route of cuties, but then so many of them were dry or sour or just bleh and I dreaded them. Then I noticed my roommate cutting navel orange slices, tried that, and was floored with a delicious taste of citrus without all the pith under my nails.

Come this winter, a local farm I’ve sometimes done a summer CSA with started offering a “citrus CSA” by partnering with some California farms they work with in their restaurant business. My citrus life has gotten so much more vibrant! Highlights have been kumquats and pomelos.

Oral allergy syndrome - it’s when a protein in a food product is sooo similar to pollen you have a weird reaction to it…as if you chomped on pollen! I get it all the time with pineapple, banana, sometimes bread, DEFINITELY kiwi! It’s a mild food allergy that affects people that may get hay fever (me!) or asthma, apparently.

I loved a whole bunch of things about this episode but the rosemary and thyme helping Alzheimers caught my attention. I went out read about it— fascinating— but this little nugget was at the end of the article: “This work was supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health (U01 AG088679, R01 AG056259, R35 AG071734, RF1 AG057409, R01 AG056259, R56 AG065372, R01 DA048882, DP1 DA041722 and S10 OD030332”

I guess that yanks the end right back inside of politics 🤬

I looooove strawberries but I fear I haven’t tasted a real strawberry since I was a little girl, eating the freshest of freshly picked strawberries back in the 80s and 90s in Poland. Still my favorite fruit, though, and occasionally I’ll get a good batch that tastes a bit like I remember… 🍓

Thanks for pointing out Trump calling the term groceries “old-fashioned.” That says so much! My husband and I were having so much fun thinking of other “old-fashioned” terms: “trash day,” “water bill,” “yard work.” 😂
